  24.             The SDDAS maintains a large optical disk  database  of  data
  25.             returned  by the Dynamics Explorer satellites 1 & 2. It pro-
  26.             vides interactive tools for displaying this data in  various
  27.             ways and selected subsets may be acquired via anonymous FTP.
  28.             This data is primarily used by those doing research in space
  29.             physics,  magnetospheric  physics,  and  the dynamics of the
  30.             upper atmosphere. The measurements are  classified  as  fol-
  31.             lows: DC magnetic field; AC electric field; particles; elec-
  32.             tron and ion ionospheric temperature and density; ion compo-
  33.             sition  and  drift; thermal neutral drift, composition, den-
  34.             sity, and temperature.

  38.             Access is made via  TELNET  to  espsun.space.swri.edu  using
  39.             port   10000.   One  may  also  request a private account if
  40.             extensive use is projected. NASA sponsored investigators may
  41.             access this system through the NASA Master Directory on host
  42.             nssdca.gsfc.nasa.gov. X-window system servers are  supported
  43.             for graphical displays.

  74.             A detailed list of the data holdings may be  requested  from
  75.             sddas-help@swri.edu.    The   database   server   is  a  SUN
  76.             SPARCserver 330, soon to be upgraded with  additional  CPUs.
  77.             The  SDDAS  software  is  available  to  qualified users for
  78.             installation on  their  own  workstations.  Immediate  plans
  79.             involve  the  addition  to the archive of particle and field
  80.             measurements from the Upper Atmosphere Research Satellite.
